Biographical Information[edit]
Micah Hoffpauir was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 13th round of the 2002 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Steve Riha and made his pro debut that summer.
Hoffpauir went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles in his first major league game as a starter for the Chicago Cubs against the Houston Astros on May 21, 2008. Normally a first baseman, he was the Cubs' left fielder that game, three days after making his major league debut as a pinch hitter.
Hoffpauir hit four home runs for the Iowa Cubs on August 9, 2008, against the Round Rock Express. He had a chance to tie Pete Schneider's 85-year-old Pacific Coast League record but flew out in the 9th inning. He signed with the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters for 2011. On April 12th, Opening Day, he hit 6th and played first base. He was 2 for 4 with a RBI in a 12-3 loss as Yu Darvish put up a rare awful outing on the hill.
