From BR Bullpen

Catcher Mervin Beauperthuy played for two national teams. He played on the Netherlands Antilles national team in the 1986 Amateur World Series, in the 1987 Pan American Games and in the 1995 Pan American Games. While on the French national team, he was 2 for 13 with a double, three walks and a run in the 1993 Intercontinental Cup. Splitting catching with Jamel Boutagra, he threw out an impressive four of five would-be base thieves. With France at the 1993 European Championship, he hit .263/.359/.294 with seven runs in nine games, going six-for-eight in steal attempts. He was France's main catcher as Boutagra moved to right field. He tied Boutagra, Marcel Joost and Igor Makhambetov for third in stolen bases, behind Eddy Dix and Jeffrey Cranston. His 47 error-free chances made him the top catcher in fielding percentage; Magnus Jansson and Marco Fraschetti were tied for second with 34 chances at 100% FLD. He was still playing into the 2010s, playing for Team Saint Maarten in the 2010 Open de Rouen.

He attended spring training with the Baltimore Orioles in 1987.
