Merlin Nippert was born in Mangum, OK, and went to Oklahoma State University. He was signed by the Boston Red Sox in 1957 and came up at the age of 23 in 1962 to pitch 4 games for them. He was a year older than Carl Yastrzemski.
A Merlin Nippert is listed on the web as a mortgage loan refinance specialist for Stockman's Bank in Mangum, OK.
He was at Oklahoma State University in 1957 at the same time that Jerry Adair was there.
