The Melbourne Reds of Melbourne, FL won a pennant in their only season. Playing in the one-shot Florida East Coast League in 1972, the Cincinnati Reds farm team went 44-15-1 and took the pennant by 8 games over the Melbourne Twins. Managed by Dave Pavlesic, they outscored the opposition 323-180 and allowed 65 fewer runs than any other club. Dave Covert led the league with 62 hits, Forrest Clemmons (4-1, 1.86) led the league in ERA, Gary Myers (6-1, Sv, 2.65) led the loop with 58 strikeouts and Paul Howland (8-1, 1.87) was second in ERA and tied for the lead in victories.
