Mazda Stadium
Mazda Stadium (formerly known as Hiroshima Municipal Stadium) has been home to the Hiroshima Carp since it opened in July of 1957. It seats 32,000 fans at full capacity. The park measures 300' down the lines, 360' to the gap and 380' to center. The small dimensions make it known as a hitter-friendly stadium, inflating offensive statistics for the Carp while deflating pitcher stats. The city is planning to replace the stadium but there has been some opposition among fans. It is generally considered one of the less accommodating parks in Nippon Pro Baseball.
The stadium is located directly across the street from where the atomic bomb detonated in World War II. [1]
