Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Max Wotell was a 3rd-round pick by the New York Mets in the 2015 amateur draft, out of high school. The scout was John Hendricks. After signing with the team, he was assigned to the GCL Mets where he was 0-1, 2.53 in 9 games in relief. It was clear that it was hard for opposing batters to make contact with his stuff, as he allowed only 2 hits in 10 2/3 innings, but walked 9 and hit one batter while striking out 16. In 2016, he began the season with the Kingsport Mets of the Appalachian League, where he was 3-1, 3.94 in 6 starts. His control was much improved, with a K/W ratio of 31/12 in 29 2/3 innings. Still a very long way from the Show, on August 1st he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds along with 2B Dilson Herrera in return for All-Star RF Jay Bruce.
