Biographical Information[edit]

Matthias Klünder played in the Bundesliga and for the German national team.

He got into one game in the 1993 European Championship but did not bat. The first season for which Bundesliga stats are available online (as of 5/21/23) is 1994; he hit .378/.521/.581 with 28 RBI in 84 AB for the HSV Stealers and had a 7-1, 5.98 record in the high-offense aluminum bat league. He tied Wilgen Reyes for 6th in RBI in the Bundesliga-1 north, was 7th in OBP, ranked 10th in slugging, placed 6th in ERA, was 9th with 46 K, had the fifth-most wins and was 4th in WHIP (between Michael de Gelimini and Georg Bull). In 1995, he fell to .263/.333/.316 for the Hamburg Knights while going 4-3 with a 3.77 ERA for HSV. He was on the leaderboards in ERA (9th, between Yorn Ziesche and de Gelmini), strikeouts (62, 6th), innings (60 1/3, 8th), K/IP (3rd) and WHIP (10th).

The southpaw hit .333/.500/.519 in limited action in 1996 and went 3-2, 7.76 on the hill. His last season, 1997, he was 4 for 11 and 0-2 with a 9.90 ERA.
