Biographical Information[edit]
Yorn Ziesche was an outfielder-pitcher and manager for the Cologne Cardinals, retiring in 1995. He was 4 for 9 with a double, homer, four RBI, two runs and two steals for the German national team in the 1986 European B-Level Championship and went 1-0 with one unearned run in 7 IP (2 H, 4 BB, 6 K). He tied Frank Jäger and Martin Helmig for second on the team in RBI. He was 3 for 15 with a walk, two runs and three RBI in the 1987 European Championship. In the 1989 European Championship, he was 1 for 6 with a run and a RBI but allowed 5 runs in 3 2/3 IP (6 H, 5 BB). He was with Cologne when they toured the US in 1991. In his final season, Ziesche still tied for 4th in the southern Bundesliga-1 in wins and was 8th in WHIP and ERA.
