Biographical Information[edit]

Matt Rusch pitched in the minor leagues from 2005 to 2018, after which he became a manager.

He signed with the Detroit Tigers as an undrafted free agent and made it all the way to AAA, with the Toledo Mud Hens in both 2008 and 2009 but did not get a shot at the Show. In 2010, he went 11-2, 3.29 with the Capitales de Québec of the independent Can-Am Association, and 6-4, 2.99 with the same team in 2011, which earned him another shot in organized baseball, this one with the Boston Red Sox, at the end of that season. He was 0-3, 5.06 in 4 starts for the Portland Sea Dogs of the AA Eastern League, but spent the rest of his career in the indy leagues.

He played for the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the American Association in 2012 and 2013, then with another Canadian-based team, the Aigles de Trois-Rivières of the Can-Am Association from 2014 to 2018. He was part of Trois-Rivières' championship team in 2015, and retired a few games into the 2018 season. Overall, he went 87-59 in his career, not counting a brief stint in the winter leagues.

In 2022, he was appointed manager of Trois-Rivières after the team had joined the Frontier League.
