Biographical Information[edit]
Matt Tosoni had a brief pro career.
A baseball and basketball star in high school [1], he was 1-1 with a 4.97 ERA for Canada in the 2002 World Junior Championship. He got an upset win over Deinys Suárez and champion Cuba, saved by Karl Mejlholm, but lost a rematch in the semifinals. [2] He was 5-2 with a 2.91 ERA as a college freshman in 2004 then was redshirted in '05. [3] In 2006, he was 3-3 with a 3.94 ERA, then 5-4 with a 3.71 ERA in '07. [4]
In 2008, he had a 6-2, 1.87 record, leading the Big East Conference in ERA, .50 ahead of runner-up Justin Marks, but Pitcher of the Year went to George Brown. [5] He pitched four games as a pro that summer, going 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA for the Ottawa Rapides.
