In the 2006 Haarlem Baseball Week, the right-hander was 1-0 with 8 shutout innings, fanning 7, walking 5 and giving up five hits. In the 2006 Intercontinental Cup, he went 0-1 with a 5.14 ERA; only Yuniesky Maya had a higher ERA on Cuba's staff. He got Cuba's only loss in their 9 games in the Cup, a 4-3 defeat to the Taiwan national team. Deinys gave up all 4 runs in 3 innings, the big blow being a 2-run shot by Tai-Shan Chang. That was his last stint with the national squad.

Suárez was 3-1 with a save and a 4.62 ERA in 2007-2008 to lift his career ERA to 3.43. He was very ineffective in 2008-2009, going 2-5 with a 6.05 ERA and 1.82 WHIP.
