Matt Ryan played two minor league seasons.
Ryan hit .261/.330/.412 for the 2005 AZL Angels. He also made seven errors to tie Wally Backman Jr. for the Arizona League lead among first baseman. He had been 0 for 4 that year in his Claxton Shield debut. In the 2006 Claxton Shield, he was 1 for 12 with a homer off Donavon Hendricks. Ryan batted .250/.348/.330 for the '06 AZL Angels.
Moving to the mound for the 2008 Claxton Shield, Ryan gave up 4 runs and 10 hits in 4 innings. He did not play in the 2009 or 2010 Claxton Shield.
For the summer of 2010, Ryan signed with ADO in the Netherlands. He debuted as the first baseman and cleanup hitter on Opening Day, going 1 for 4 in a loss to Jos de Jong, Rik Geestman and the Amsterdam Pirates.
