Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Matt Rose was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 24th round of the 2012 amateur draft, out of high school, but chose to attend college instead of signing. In the 2015 amateur draft, he was picked in the 11th round by the Chicago Cubs.

He has played both first and third base in the minors. In 2015, he split his time between the Eugene Emeralds and the South Bend Cubs, hitting .271/.309/.392 in 45 games. With the same two teams in 2016, he got into 101 games, batting .236/.323/.426. He did hit 18 doubles and 17 homers, showing promising power. In 2017 he began the year with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans of the Carolina League, then on [July 13]]th was traded to the Chicago White Sox alongside Dylan Cease, Eloy Jimenez and Bryant Flete in return for major league pitcher José Quintana. As the White Sox also had an affiliate in the circuit, he simply moved over to the Winston-Salem Dash.
