Matt Curry was drafted in 2010. He played professionally until 2014.

Curry hit .420 as a high school junior and .566 as a senior, when he made All-State. He batted .425 with 70 RBI as a junior college freshman and set a school record with 28 doubles. He topped it with 32 two-baggers the next year, a .451 average, 20 homers and 90 RBI, winning him third-team junior college All-American honors. The Pittsburgh Pirates chose him in the 37th round of the 2008 amateur draft. Matt hit .315/.421/.444 as a junior after transferring to TCU, playing mostly DH. After 66 games as a senior, he set school records for doubles (26), putouts (544) and walks (57). He was hitting .346/.469/.696 with 63 runs, 18 home runs and 65 RBI. The Pittsburgh Pirates selected Matt in the 16th round of the 2010 amateur draft. In the 2010 College World Series, he keyed an eight-inning explosion that knocked out Florida State University, hitting a grand slam.

Curry made his pro debut on July 3 for the State College Spikes, going 2 for 5 with a RBI and a double. He had hits in each of his first eight games as a pro.
