Biographical Information[edit]

Matt Cassel was for a time the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. His brothers Jack and Justin both play professional baseball.

Baseball wise, Cassel's Northridge team reached the finals of the 1994 Little League World Series; Cassel was the starting first baseman. He lettered in baseball and football in high school and played baseball at USC in 2004. While his 0–1 and 9.35 ERA may be ugly, the Oakland Athletics still drafted Cassel in the 36th round of the 2004 Amateur Draft. He did not sign and continued his college football career, eventually being drafted by the New England Patriots in the 7th and final round the 2005 NFL draft. He was named to his first Pro Bowl team in 2010, his second year with the Chiefs.
