Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Matt Betsill played three seasons in the minor leagues.

Betsill was home schooled and played in the Home School World Series as a junior and senior. In 2003, he hit .250 as a freshman at Furman University, starting at third base. In 2004, he batted .330, second on the club. As a junior, he batted .336/.391/.526 and stole 10 bases in 12 tries. He was the highest pick out of Furman in 28 years when he was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the tenth round of the 2005 amateur draft.

Matt hit .277/.359/.365 for the 2005 Elizabethton Twins and fielded .904 as their primary player at the hot corner. In 2006, he played for the GCL Twins (4 for 34, BB, 10 K), Elizabethton (3 for 12, BB, 2 HR, 8 RBI) and the Beloit Snappers (.280/.363/.320 in 28 G), missing almost a month with a left shin fracture.

Betsill batted .213/.311/.310 in 58 games for Beloit and led the team in games at first base and .155/.193/.186 in 37 for the Fort Myers Miracle.
