Biographical Information[edit]
Masato Nakamura has played in Nippon Pro Baseball and the Japanese national team.
Nakamura represented Japan in 2005 Asian Championship and 2005 Baseball World Cup. In the World Cup, he hit .353/.425/.441 with 9 runs and 8 RBI in 10 games, playing error-free defense in center. The Rakuten Golden Eagles drafted him in the second round of the development phase in the 2006 NPB draft. Nakamura hit .354/.447/.554 in the Eastern League, and also recorded a .292/.346/.396 batting line with the big club in 2008. He improved and hit .270/.318/.352 in 101 games in 2009. He slumped to .225/.244/.275 in 2010, but he bounced back soon, batted .271/.329/.328 in 2011. His batting line declined to .226/.255/.321 in 2012, and the Eagles released him after this season. He announced his retirement after failing to join the Korea Baseball Organization that year.
Overall, Nakamura had hit .269/.319/.347 in 5 seasons in NPB.
