Biographical Information[edit]
Masao Taki is a member of the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame.
He caught for Chukyo Shogyo High School that won the 1937 summer Koshien and 1938 spring Koshien, forming a battery with Jiro Noguchi. He served in Malaysia during World War II. He was Chukyo Shogyo's GM when they won the 1954 summer Koshien and 1956 spring Koshien. He was the only person to win both the spring and summer Koshien as a player then do it again as a GM. He managed Chukyo University (1956-1983) to 28 Aichi University Baseball League titles and the 1970 All-Japan University Baseball Championship. He was noted for developing other coaches. In the 2018 Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame Election, he posthumously won election to the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame in a class with star players Hideki Matsui, Tomoaki Kanemoto and Tatsunori Hara.
