Biographical Information[edit]

Masahiro Taijun was a third baseman in the CPBL and the NPB. He was the brother of Yasuaki Taiho (both were named Chen in their native Taiwan).

Like Taiho, Taijun went to college in Japan. He played for the Chiba Lotte Marines for two years, going 0 for 3 with two strikeouts in 1991 and 5 for 34 with a homer and 9 strikeouts in 1992. He then returned to Taiwan. The Wei Chuan Dragons picked Taijun in the first round of the 1992 CPBL Draft. In 1993, he hit .194/.226/.338. He improved to .318/.368/.532 with 11 homers in 220 AB in 1994. During 1995, he hit .260/.288/.425 followed by .304/.328/.440 in 1996. In 1997, he slumped to .230/.290/.366 and he wound down the next two years by hitting .224/.307/.388 and .247/.304/.329. Taijun was selected into the 1999 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was 0-for-1. His career ended as the Dragons expelled in 1999.

Overall, Taijun hit .253/.305/.402 with 330 hits and 70 homers in 7 seasons in the CPBL.
