Biographical Information[edit]

Marty Decker pitched 4 games for the San Diego Padres in 1983, with an ERA of 2.08. He had 9 strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings.

Decker was born in Upland, CA, a couple of years before Ricky Adams was born there. The two were both in the major leagues in 1983. Decker was sent to the Padres on September 20, 1983 to complete an earlier trade with the Philadelphia Phillies, who had originally drafted him in the 23rd round in 1980, and he made his major league debut that very day. Dick Williams was the Padres manager.

Point Loma Nazarene University calls Decker the "premier pitcher" in their history, holding most of the college's pitching records, and keeping the team in the playoffs all four years.

An arm injury forced his retirement from professional baseball. He later lived in Yuba City, CA.
