Johan Martin Ronnenbergh

Ronnenbergh played in the Hoofdklasse with the Giants Diemen, UVV and the Amsterdam Pirates. He was with the Dutch national team for the 1977 European Championship. In the 1978 Amateur World Series, he was the second-most used Dutch pitcher, after Bart Volkerijk. Martin went 0-2 with a 7.27 ERA and 28 hits in 17 1/3 IP.
Ronnenbergh had a big season for the 1979 Giants, going 17-3 with a league-best 2.31 ERA; he also led in winning percentage and was named Pitcher of the Year. He was with the Netherlands for the 1979 European Championship.
Martin signed with the San Diego Padres for 1980. He pitched with the Reno Silver Sox (5-4, 2.28, 65 H in 87 IP, 6 CG in 11 starts) and the Amarillo Gold Sox (3-6, 5.57). Had he qualified, he would have ranked third in the California League in ERA. Despite a 8-10, 3.81 record in A/AA ball at age 23, the Padres did not retain Ronnenbergh for 1981 and he returned to the Netherlands.
In 1981, Martin threw a no-hitter. After his playing career ended, Ronnenbergh was pitching coach for the Amsterdam Pirates and head coach for HCAW in part of 1987.
