Biographical Information[edit]

Third baseman Mark Schramek was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 45th round of the 2001 amateur draft but did not sign, opting to remain at the University of Texas - San Antonio for his senior year. The next spring, he hit .416 with 11 home runs and 49 RBI and was named Southland Conference Player of the Year. He was then chosen by the Reds again, this time in the supplemental first round of the 2002 amateur draft. He played four years in their organization, briefly reaching the AA level.
