Biographical Information[edit]

Mark Mills debuted for the British national team in the 1997 European Championship. Given a tough challenge against the powerful Dutch national team, he allowed 12 hits and 11 runs (5 earned) in 5 2/3 IP in a loss. In the 1999 European Championship, he allowed one run in one inning against Italy then went 8 strong innings (allowing only two runs, both unearned) but got a no-decision as Britain fell to Sweden. Only Gavin Marshall had a better ERA for the Brits. His swan song was the 2001 European Championship. He was the sacrificial lamb in their opener against the Dutch and Patrick Beljaards, rocked for 13 hits and 17 runs (12 earned) in one inning. He also allowed 3 runs in one inning against Sweden. He allowed more runs than the Netherlands allowed in their eight games, giving up the most in the tournament. He did not have the worst ERA as teammate Nick Carter retired no one and Jan Homolka was at 81.00. Available domestic stats show him as 18-6 for the Brighton Buccaneers from 1998-2004.
