Mark McQueen has coached at the college level.
McQueen played in the 1980 Junior College World Series then went 7-0 as a senior at Sam Houston State in 1984. Undrafted, he signed with the Detroit Tigers but allowed 13 runs, 14 hits and 8 walks in 11 2/3 IP for the 1985 Tri-Cities Triplets; he did strike out 16. He had no decisions in 8 games (one start).
McQueen was assistant coach at Iowa State University in 1987-1988 and was pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for the University of Richmond from 1988-2000. He was assistant coach at Virginia Commonwealth University from 2001-2006, returned to Richmond as associate head coach in 2007, then took the top job at Richmond in 2008. He went 156-161-4 in that role, but was suspended in 2013 due to an altercation with a player, then resigned.
