Biographical Information[edit]

In 1961, Mario was with the Decatur Commodores (7-6, 4.23) and Duluth-Superior Dukes (0-2) to conclude his US career.

Returning to his native Mexico, the right-hander was 6-3 with a 5.07 ERA for the 1962 Fresnillo Rojos and 3-3 with a 3.51 ERA for the Mexico City Red Devils. He would remain as a reliever for Mexico City for the rest of the 1960s. He had records of 11-8 3.60 in 1963, 7-7, 4.43 in 1964, 3-5, 4.50 in 1965 and 5-1, 3.27 in 1966. Pelaez later managed the Cafeteros de Córdoba and Fresnillo Mineros. In '72, he guided Córdoba (his hometown team) to its second title and first in 33 years; they have not won again as of 2010. Mario pitched one game for the 1973 Cafeteros and tossed a shutout inning to conclude his playing career. Overall, he had gone 43-40 with a 3.55 ERA in 309 Mexican League games (19 starts). He had walked 305 in 573 innings. He had a 69-58 record for his entire minor league career.
