Biographical Information[edit]
Marijke van Veen has played softball for DSS in the Netherlands. In the 2012 Women's Baseball World Cup, she made five appearances, tying Maddison Lenard, Lauren McGrath, Raysa De Feria, Ana Castellanos and Mabel Cuello for second in the event, two behind teammate Loes Asmus. She did not fare particularly well, with 14 runs (11 earned), 12 hits and a team-high 13 walks in only 5 1/3 IP. She started against Australia (2 R, 3 BB, 2 H in 1 1/3 IP, relieved by Asmus in a 13-11 loss) and Venezuela (3 R, 3 H, 2 BB in 1 IP, taking the loss against Yexelis Nagua). Her worst outing came against Canada (6 R, 5 H, 4 BB in 1 1/3 IP) while her best was possibly her game against Taiwan (3 BB, 1 UER in 2/3 IP). Only Jovanka Alfons-Wortelboer and Lisette Bennink had worse ERAs for the Netherlands.
