Biographical Information[edit]

Marcus McKenzie pitched professionally from 2007 to 2010. His father Mark McKenzie has coached college and high school baseball.

Marcus was All-State in high school in 2002 and 2003 as well as All-Conference in football. He was 1-2 with a 8.61 ERA as a college freshman at New Orleans. Transferring to Minnesota, he went 3-2 with a 5.70 ERA as a sophomore, 0-1 with a 8.25 ERA as a junior and 7-1 despite a 6.61 ERA his senior year. He tied for 4th in the Big Ten Conference in wins, two shy of leader Cory Luebke.

McKenzie began his pro career in 2007, pitching for the St. Paul Saints (0-1, 7 R in 6 IP) and Southern Illinois Miners (3-3, 6.03). In 2008, he was with the Miners (1-0, 5.95 in 8 G) and Rockford RiverHawks (2 ER in 7 IP). The next year, the lefty had a 0-2, 6.30 record for Rockford, walking 24 in 30 innings. His 26 outings were second on the club. In 2010, he pitched for the Calgary Vipers (0-2, 9.42, 24 H in 14 1/3 IP) and Saints (0-1, 10.50, 20 H in 12 IP).

McKenzie was assistant coach at Concordia University, working under his father from 2007 to 2017. He was visiting clubhouse attendant for the Minnesota Twins from 1999 to 2017 and visiting clubhouse manager from 2017 to present (as of 2023).
