Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Marcus Jones played six seasons in the minors and one game in the big leagues.

Originally selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 47th round of the 1993 amateur draft out of high school, Jones opted to attend college instead. He was then taken by the Chicago White Sox in the eighth round of the 1996 amateur draft but again did not sign. He was chosen by the Oakland Athletics in the third round of the 1997 amateur draft and made his pro debut that summer with the Southern Oregon Timberjacks, going 3-3 with a 4.50 ERA in 14 games.

Jones appeared in his only big league game on July 17th, 2000. Facing the Colorado Rockies in the first game of a doubleheader, he was the starter and went 2 1/3 innings while giving up 4 earned runs and striking out 1 (his opponent on the mound that day, Julian Tavarez). He then returned to the minors and continued to play there through 2002.
