Biographical Information

Marc delPiano has been a scout, minor league player and minor league coach.

DelPiano was originally signed by the Cleveland Indians as an undrafted free agent. He hit .227/.350/.247 in 42 games for the 1989 Burlington Indians, fielding .921 as their main shortstop, and throwing one shutout inning. He also played one game for the 1989 Kinston Indians. He moved to the Houston Astros chain for 1990 and went 5 for 20 with two walks, two runs and three RBI as a utility infielder for the Auburn Astros to end his playing career. He began his coaching career with Auburn in 1991.

DelPiano spent five seasons with the Texas Rangers, coaching for the Erie Sailors and Hudson Valley Renegades and serving as a scout. He was a Montreal Expos scout from 1996-? then worked for the Florida Marlins as a scout, Director of Player Development and Director of International Scouting. From 2006-2008, he was a Special Assignment Scout for the Boston Red Sox. In December 2008, he joined the Pittsburgh Pirates as Special Assistant to the GM.
