Manuel Antonio Malpica Martínez (El Pollo)

- Died June 6, 1970 in Caracas Venezuela
Biographical Information[edit]
Manuel Malpica managed the Venezuelan national team to the 1941 Amateur World Series title, the country's first global title. They became known as the Héroes del 41. He had been a catcher in Venezuela since 1926 and also managed. He guided Venezuela to a Bronze in the 1942 Amateur World Series as well. He was also one of the founding owners of the Tiburones de La Guaira and was a doctor for 20 years, starting in 1944, running a clinic. In 1971, he was inducted into the Venezuelan Sports Hall of Fame.
