Biographical Information[edit]

Manuel Alvarez is a pitcher who played in the New York Mets minor leagues from 2006 to 2011.

Alvarez began his professional career in the Washington Nationals organization in 2006, pitching for the GCL Nationals. He went 2-3 with a 2.79 ERA in 14 relief appearances with them. Let go by Washington, he signed with the New York Mets. In 2007, he pitched in the Mets organization for the VSL Mets. That year, he went 1-4 with a 4.29 ERA in 13 games (11 starts). In 2008, he pitched for the Kingsport Mets, going 0-4 with three saves, a .352 opponent average and a 6.59 ERA in 17 relief appearances. He pitched for the St. Lucie Mets in 2009, going 4-3 with nine saves, a .305 opponent average and a 5.09 ERA in 35 relief appearances. In 2010, he pitched for the St. Lucie Mets (3-1, 9 Sv, 18 games, no earned runs allowed in 25 2/3 IP), Binghamton Mets (3-1, 8 Sv, 34 games, 2.87 ERA) and Buffalo Bisons (0-2, four games, 6.00 ERA). Overall, he went 6-4 with 17 saves, a .199 opponent average and a 2.17 ERA in 56 games in 2010. He appeared in 9 games between Binghamton and Buffalo in 2011 and went 0-2 with a 8.10 ERA.

Overall, he went 13-20 with a 4.05 ERA in 144 games (11 starts) in 6 seasons.
