Man-sik Kang pitched in the KBO for 8 years.
Kang joined the Haitai Tigers when the KBO was founded in 1982, and he was 5-11 with a 4.44 ERA in that season. He was 6th in losses, tied with Gyu-bong Hwang. Kang improved to 6-4 with a 2.78 ERA in 1983, then he had a 11-4 record with a 3.26 ERA in 1984. He ranked 10th in wins, 17 behind Dong-won Choi. Kang extended his soild pitching in 1985, and he went 13-8 with a 3.31 ERA. He led the league with 20 homers allowed (tied with Hiroaki Fukushi), and he was 4th in wins (11 behind Si-jin Kim and Hisao Niura). Kang slumped to 4-6 with a 4.33 ERA in 1986, then he was traded to the Binggrae Eagles for cash. His ERA was 6.11 in 5 games in 1987, and he was released after the 1988 season. The Samsung Lions signed him, but Kang only pitched 5 games with a 7.94 ERA in 1989 then he retired. He was the pitching coach for the Ssangbangwool Raiders from 1991 to 1992, for the OB Bears in 1997 and for their minor league team from 1995 to 1996. He also coached Gwangju Jeil High School in 1997.
Overall, Kang was 41-37 with a 3.76 ERA, struck out 292 and pitched 679 2/3 innings in 8 seasons in the KBO.
