Biographical Information

Maikel Hidalgo has been a pitcher for the Metropolitanos in the Cuban Serie Nacional.

Hidalgo was 1-2 with two saves and a 3.53 ERA for the Metropilitanos in 2006-2007. Through that season, his 5th, he was 3-12 with 7 saves and a 6.08 ERA in five seasons. He was 1-6 with two saves and a 7.82 ERA in 2007-2008, striking out 9 while walking 28 in 50 2/3 IP and allowing a .318 average. In 2008-2009, he was 1-2 with 7 saves and a 4.39 ERA. He was 4th in the league in games pitched (34, behind Alexei Alarcón, Alberto Bicet and Vladimir García) and tied for 7th in saves.

In 2009-2010, the right-hander fell to 1-6, 6.58 with a .367 opponent average. He had a 2-7, 5.21 record in 2010-2011. Returning to the closer's role in 2011-2012, Hidalgo was 4-6 with 8 saves and a 4.00 ERA.
