Biographical Information[edit]

Luis Tejada peaked at AA and played for the Dominican national team.

Tejada was signed by San Diego Padres scouts Felix Feliz, Juan Lara and Martin Jose in January 2010. [1] He debuted that summer with the DSL Padres, playing CF and 1B primarily and hitting .228/.330/.280. The next year, he improved to .276/.391/.461 for them, with 48 runs and 8 homers in 67 games, stealing 16 bases in 22 tries. He played all three outfield slots regularly. He tied Ericson Leonora for 5th in the Dominican Summer League in home runs and tied for 10th in runs. That earned him a shot stateside in 2012 as the first baseman with the AZL Padres and he fared well (.293/.352/.370). One downside was zero homers after having been among the league leaders his prior campaign.

With the Fort Wayne Tincaps in 2013, he hit .227/.266/.305, only his steal numbers (18 SB, 5 CS) looking good on offense. He made his Dominican Winter League debut, going 0 for 2 for the Gigantes del Cibao. He split 2014 between the Tincaps (.247/.310/.354 in 46 G), Lake Elsinore Storm (.190/.244/.238 in 12 G) and San Antonio Missions (2 for 6). He was 0 for 5 with a walk for Cibao in 2014-2015. Back with Fort Wayne in 2015, he put up better numbers - .293/.337/.394. In 2016, he played for the TinCaps (.323/.373/.532 in 16 G), Storm (.223/.311/.382 in 46 G) and Missions (.256/.336/.415 in 63 G), with 26 doubles and 11 home runs between the stops. He was 1 for 12 with a walk for the 2016-2017 Gigantes. A free agent, he signed with the Los Angeles Angels but hit only .199/.263/.281 in 48 games for the Mobile BayBears. In 592 minor league games, he had hit .250/.319/.360 with 277 runs and 258 RBI in 592 games. He hit 31 home runs and stole 67 bases in 98 tries. He fielded .988 at 1B and .967 in the outfield.

He was on the Dominican team for the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games, starting in right field. He hit .222/.333/.278 with two runs and one RBI in six games. He had 8 putouts, one assist and no errors. [2]
