Biographical Information[edit]

Luis Ramos has played in the independent leagues and Puerto Rico and for the Puerto Rican national team.

Ramos was picked by the Florida Marlins in the 41st round of the 2005 amateur draft. He hit .267/.323/.350 for the GCL Marlins that summer, as a backup left fielder. He fell to .159/.284/.206 in a repeat stint with the team. He moved to the independent Laredo Broncos in 2007 and batted .257/.348/.320 with 32 runs in 69 games. He began pitching, allowing 10 hits, 3 walks and 7 runs (3 earned) in 3 1/3 IP.

He next surfaced as a full-time pitcher with the 2009 American Defenders of New Hampshire. He was wild with 35 walks in 46 2/3 IP but had a decent 4-5, 5.01 record. He was 1-2 with a 6.43 ERA for the 2010-2011 Gigantes de Carolina, was lit up with the 2011 Bridgeport Bluefish (5 H, 7 BB, 9 R in 3 1/3 IP) then allowed 3 runs (one earned) in four innings the next winter.

For his hometown Indios de Mayagüez, he gave up two runs in 1 1/3 IP in 2012-2013. He pitched seven games for the 2014-2015 Senadores de San Juan (9 H, 5 BB, 6 R, 5 ER in 4 2/3 IP). He was 0-1 with a 11.25 ERA for Puerto Rico in the 2015 Pan American Games, losing to Gold Medal winner Canada. He did not have the team's highest ERA as Luis Cintrón and Raúl Rivera were higher.
