Biographical Information[edit]

Luis Miranda has pitched in the minors and for the Mexican national team.

Miranda was signed by Atlanta Braves scout Manuel Samaniego. [1] He was 2-2 with 5 saves and a 3.31 ERA for the 2013 DSL Braves, then had a 3-2, 2.33 record with four saves for the 2014 Danville Braves. He was among the leaders among Braves farmhands in relief opponent average (.208, 6th), ERA (7th) and WHIP (1.04, 8th). [2] Making his winter league debut, he allowed nine hits and six runs in four innings for the Naranjeros de Hermosillo.

He split 2015 between the GCL Braves (0 R in 1 IP), Danville (1-0, Sv, 2.70 in 4 G) and Rome Braves (1-0, 8.44 in 5 G) then allowed two runs in 1 2/3 IP in the winter for Hermosillo. Going to the Mexican League in 2016, he was 7-7 with a 4.87 ERA for the Tigres de Quintana Roo. In a relief role, he was 1-1 with a 3.68 ERA and 26 K in 22 IP for his hometown Naranjeros in 2016-2017. He was 0-1 with four runs in 1 2/3 IP in a rough 2017 for the Diablos Rojos del México. He pitched 1 1/3 shutout innings for the '18 Diablos Rojos.

His next professional appearances weren't until the winter of 2020-2021, when he came back to go 8-2 with a 3.86 ERA for the Algodoneros de Guasave. He tied Juan Pablo Oramas for the league lead in wins. He was 3-5 with a 6.64 ERA for the 2021 Guerreros de Oaxaca then had a 5-4, 5.47 record for Guasave in 2021-2022. He tied for 8th in the Mexican Pacific League in wins. After an awful summer with the Mariachis de Guadalajara (1-8, 9.64 ERA, 2.07 WHIP in 16 G), he was much better (5-1, 1.07) in the winter for the Cañeros de Los Mochis. He tied for 9th in wins and would have led in ERA had he qualified. In the 2023 Caribbean Series, he allowed two hits in six shutout innings to beat the Leones del Caracas and J.C. Ramírez. He began 2023 well with Oaxaca at 4-2, 3.31.

Making Mexico's team for the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, he was part of a dominant Mexican team that became the first Mexican baseball team to win an international tournament, after 10 Silver Medals over the prior 97 years. In his outing, it was a repeat of his Caribbean Series work - 2 hits, 0 runs in 6 - this time versus Nicaragua, beating Osman Gutiérrez. He was one inning shy of matching Hansel Paulino and Eduardo Paredes for the best ERA in the event; unlike those two, he did not allow any runs. [3]
