Biographical Information[edit]

Juan Pablo Oramas pitched three minor league seasons before he turned 20 years old.

Oramas made his pro debut with the 2007 DSL Padres, going 2-3 with a 3.81 ERA. He struck out 63 in 54 1/3 innings and allowed only 39 hits (one home run). He was even better with the same club in 2008, posting a 3-2, 3 Sv, 1.02 record. He allowed a .125 batting average with just 23 hits in 53 innings (no home runs), striking out 70.

Despite his success in 2008, Oramas did not pitch for a San Diego Padres farm club in 2009, instead spending the year with the Mexico City Red Devils. He went 9-1 with a 2.31 ERA and allowed a .219 average. He tied Francisco Campos for the Mexican League lead in ERA. He split the Rookie of the Year award with Japhet Amador.

Oramas is on Mexico's roster for the 2009 Baseball World Cup.
