Biographical Information[edit]

Luis Martinez has played, coached and managed in the minor leagues.

Signed by the Oakland Athletics in 1984, Luis debuted with the '85 Medford A's and hit only .191/~.281/.222 as a starter at second base. In 1986, Martinez batted .265/~.456/.342 with 41 walks in 33 games for Medford and was 6 for 34 with ten walks, a double and homer for the Madison Muskies. Luis hit .254/~.360/.337 for Madison in 1987. He wrapped up his playing career at high-A with the 1988 Modesto A's, with a batting line of .182/.364/.235 in 60 contests, drawing 50 walks. He fielded .941 at second base, which he split with two others.

Martinez became an infield coach in the A's minor league system in 1989 and managed from 1991-1996, all apparently at the Dominican Summer League level. He was an infield coach for the 2008 DSL Astros then became their manager in 2009-2012.
