Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Luis Guerrero was born in the Dominican Republic but moved to Boston, MA as a child where he grew up idolizing players such as David Ortiz and Pedro Martinez. However, he went back to the D.R. for high school, then moved back to U.S. to attend junior college. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 17th round of the 2021 amateur draft out of Chipola College.

He was the Red Sox's Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2023 when he went 3-3, 2.32 with 19 saves in 49 games - all in relief - between the Portland Sea Dogs and Worcester Red Sox. In 54 1/3 innings, he struck out 68 batters. He returned to Worcester in 2024 and went 5-3, 3.31 in 42 games. He made his major league debut with Boston on September 8th, recording the final two outs in a 7-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox.

According to his bio on mlb.com, "(he) walks with a limp in his right leg due to knee surgery from when he was a child."
