Biographical information[edit]

Luis Galindez is a former minor league baseball pitcher who played in the San Diego Padres organization from 1989 to 1994. He was originally signed by the Padres as a non-drafted free-agent on January 6, 1988.

He began his professional career with the Waterloo Diamonds of the Midwest League. With them, he went 2-12 with a 6.47 ERA in 33 games. In 104 innings, he walked 63 batters, struck out 57 and gave up 127 hits.

In 1990, his performance improved greatly. Pitching for Waterloo again, he went 10-7 with a 2.78 ERA in 26 games. In 149 innings, he allowed only 122 hits and 75 walks, while striking out 99 batters. His ten wins were second on the team to Brian McKeon's 11, and his 99 strikeouts were second to McKeon's 141.

Playing with both the High Desert Mavericks and Wichita Wranglers in 1991, Galindez went a combined 6-11. However, that record is fairly misleading, as he didn't perform that poorly while with High Desert. With High Desert, he went 4-3 with a 3.72 ERA. He really faltered when he went to the Wranglers however, as he went 2-8 with a 6.41 ERA with them.

1992 was another solid season for Galindez. Pitching for High Desert, he went 11-6 with a 3.87 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 158 innings of work.

He missed all of 1993. 1994 would end up being his final season, and he appeared in only one game, for the AZL Padres. He pitched one inning, walking one and striking out one.

He played for the Santurce Crabbers in 1994-1995.

Overall in his career, Galindez posted a 29-36 record.
