Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Brian McKeon played in the minor leagues from 1989 to 1993. He was taken by the San Diego Padres in the 14th round of the 1989 amateur draft, one pick after pitcher Rick Greene and ahead of pitcher Mike Trombley.

He began his career with a 4-4 record and a 2.53 ERA in 78 1/3 innings at three levels. The next year, 1990, he was 11-11 with a 2.70 ERA in 180 frames for the Waterloo Diamonds - he had seven complete games, five shutouts and 141 strikeouts while allowing only 34 walks and 152 hits. He followed that with an 11-9 record for the High Desert Mavericks in 1991, though his ERA jumped to 5.15, his walk rate more than doubled and he averaged 11.2 hits allowed per nine innings. He began 1992 in the Padres system, but finished the campaign in the Milwaukee Brewers campaign. Overall, he was 12-6 with a 3.64 ERA, including a 8-3, 2.55 line for the Stockton Ports. After a ho-hum 1993, his career was over. In total, McKeon was 42-32 with a 3.73 ERA in 129 games (82 starts).

He died at the age of 29 in a farming accident.
