Biographical Information[edit]
Luis Baez played in the Oakland Athletics minor league system from 2008-2014. He started in the Dominican Summer League and gradually advanced to the Midwest League with the Beloit Snappers in his final season. Baez played primarily third base and shortstop, but also spent time at the other infield positions and the outfield. Offensively, Baez hit .234/.266/.344 in his seven seasons while appearing in 362 games.
According the the 2023 A's Media Guide, Baez began coaching infielders in 2018 with the DSL Athletics. He probably stayed with the team in some capacity in 2019 and the aborted 2020 season, but this could not be confirmed. He earned a promotion in 2021 to manager of the team, a role he repeated in 2022. Baez moved stateside in 2023 as an assistant hitting coach for the Lansing Lugnuts. He moved to the Stockton Ports in 2024 in the same capacity.
