Biographical Information[edit]
Louis Eljaua has been a scout.
An infielder, Eljaua won two state titles in high school. He was an assistant coach at St. Thomas University in 1991. He was a Florida Marlins scout from 1992-1997 and a Detroit Tigers scout briefly in 1998. He returned to the Marlins as Director of Latin American Scouting in 1999, then moved to the Boston Red Sox as Director of International Scouting in 2002. From 2004-2008, he was special assistant to the general manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates, then moved to the Chicago Cubs in the same role. As a scout, he signed Denny Bautista, Faustino Carrera, Danis Correa, Gary Galvez, Harvey García, Eloy Jimenez, Willy Mota, Yoanner Negrin and Fabián Pertuz.
