Biographical Information

Lou Heyman played in the minors from 1946-1958, primarily in the Philadelphia Phillies chain. A catcher, he twice hit over 30 home runs but hit .206 or lower 3 of his 4 seasons at AAA. He led the 1952 Interstate League with 30 homers.

Lou is mentioned in Willie Mays' autobiography, "Say Hey":

I also made [a difficult] catch in Trenton in 1950 that was even more fun to watch. Lou Haymen [sic] of Wilmington hit a shot to dead center, right at the 405-foot sign. I ran back, jumped, and caught it bare-handed just as it was going over. I bounced off the fence and threw the ball on the fly all the way to home plate. Nobody knew about it because it was just another game in a small town. To me, it was still a catch.
