Biographical Information[edit]

Lloyd Stevens was captain of South Africa's softball team in 2010. He made his South African national baseball team debut in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers; one of his Athlone A's staffmates (Carl Michaels) was also on the team. He relieved Robert Lewis-Walker in the 8th with a 4-1 deficit against host Australia and retired three players with US pro experience: Aaron Whitefield, David Kandilas and Allan de San Miguel. In his other outing, he relieved Jared Elario in the bottom of the 5th versus New Zealand with one on and one out to hold a 4-1 lead. He got two more players with US pro experience in Max Brown and Boss Moanaroa. In the 6th, he retired Scott Campbell, walked Daniel Lamb-Hunt then retired Moko Moanaroa and whiffed Connar O'Gorman. In the 7th, he allowed a single to Tim Auty, got Daniel Bradley on a fly and walked Alan Schoenberger before Lewis-Walker relieved. He tied Lewis-Walker and Dylan Unsworth for the team lead in ERA.

Stevens helped South Africa win the 2019 Africa Cup Baseball Championship; in the opener, he teamed with Lewis-Walker in a shutout of #2 Uganda. He pitched two innings, allowing one double and striking out two.
