Biographical Information

Pitcher Listher Sosa was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates as an international amateur free agent on July 2, 2018. He began his professional career one year later with the DSL Pirates, going 3-2, 2.72 in 11 starts. He then had to sit out the 2020 season when the minor leagues were shut down by the Coronavirus pandemic and in 2021 lined up for two different Pirates affiliates in the Florida Complex League, the FCL Pirates Black and FCL Pirates Gold, going a combined 3-1, 4.31 in 11 games, including 2 starts. He pitched 31 1/3 innings and struck out 33 batters against just 5 walks.

He had clearly caught the eyes of other scouts by that point, as just before the 2022 season started, on April 1st, he was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in return for a major league player in infielder Josh VanMeter. he started that season in the California League with the Visalia Rawhide, where he was used as a short reliever.
