Biographical Information[edit]

Linus Sjölund has played in the Elitserien and for the Swedish national team.

Sjölund debuted in 2017 with the Sundsvall Mosquitoes but the 16-year-old was overmatched, going 5 for 51 with nine walks, three runs and six RBI, posting the lowest average of any qualifier in the Elitserien by .074. He was 0-1 with a 12.15 ERA as well and fielded .911 at 2B. [1] He improved to .180/.305/.180 in 2018 and was 1-4 with a 6.49 ERA. He tied Kieran Moore and Daniel Linder for third in the league in losses. [2] In '19, he fell to 0-7, 7.04 while improving his hitting further, to .288/.409/.326. He led the league in losses, one more than Erik Marqvardsen. [3]

During 2020, the teenager hit .347/.423/.434 in a season shortened by COVID-19 and allowed three runs in two innings. [4] He batted .359/.408/.453 in 2021 and was 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA. [5] Backing up Trolle Brandt at second base in the 2021 European Championship, he got into one game for Sweden. He struck out against Germany's Daniel Mendelsohn and did not get a chance in the field. [6]
