Biographical Information

Liam Doolan has pitched for the Australian national team.

He allowed three hits, three walks and two runs in 1 2/3 IP for the Canberra Cavalry in the 2017-2018 Australian Baseball League. Going to the US for junior college, he walked 14 and allowed 11 runs in 5 innings as a freshman then improved to 3-5 with 3 saves and a 10.90 ERA as a sophomore. He walked 20 but whiffed 37 in 17 1/3 IP. Transferring to Tennessee Wesleyan, he was 5-0 with ten saves and a 2.15 ERA in 2022. He allowed 31 hits and struck out 74 in 54 1/3 IP while vastly improving his control (17 BB). He led the Appalachian Athletic Conference in saves. The Los Angeles Dodgers signed him.

Doolan was with Australia for the 2023 World Baseball Classic. In his lone outing, he was called on to face Japan, which averaged eight runs a game in sweeping the tournament. He relieved Blake Townsend in the 5th with a 6-0 deficit. He walked Kazuma Okamoto, retired Tetsuto Yamada, walked Takumu Nakano and gave up a Yuhei Nakamura double. He recovered to whiff both Lars Nootbaar and Kensuke Kondoh. Todd Van Steensel replaced him in the sixth.
