Biographical Information[edit]

Liam Doolan has pitched for the Australian national team.

He allowed three hits, three walks and two runs in 1 2/3 IP for the Canberra Cavalry in the 2017-2018 Australian Baseball League. Going to the US for junior college, he walked 14 and allowed 11 runs in 5 innings as a freshman then improved to 3-5 with 3 saves and a 10.90 ERA as a sophomore. He walked 20 but whiffed 37 in 17 1/3 IP. [1] Transferring to Tennessee Wesleyan, he was 5-0 with ten saves and a 2.15 ERA in 2022. He allowed 31 hits and struck out 74 in 54 1/3 IP while vastly improving his control (17 BB). He led the Appalachian Athletic Conference in saves. The Los Angeles Dodgers signed him. [2]

Doolan was with Australia for the 2023 World Baseball Classic. In his lone outing, he was called on to face Japan, which averaged eight runs a game in sweeping the tournament. He relieved Blake Townsend in the 5th with a 6-0 deficit. He walked Kazuma Okamoto, retired Tetsuto Yamada, walked Takumu Nakano and gave up a Yuhei Nakamura double. He recovered to whiff both Lars Nootbaar and Kensuke Kondoh. Todd Van Steensel replaced him in the sixth. [3]
