Biographical Information[edit]

Liam Carroll has played for, coached and managed the British national team.

Carroll played for the British junior team from 1998-2000. He was 3 for 31 with 5 walks for the 1998 Bracknell Blazers in Britain's top league. In 1999, he hit .220/.289/.244. During 2000, he was 2 for 10. He batted .190/.370/.190 for the 2001 Bracknell Wildfire, .231/.444/.269 for the 2002 Bracknell-Richmond Wildfire and .222/.379/.222 for the 2003 Blazers. Around this time, he was spending the fall and spring in the US, playing for Porterville College.

In the 2003 European Championship, Liam was 1 for 5 as a backup infielder for Great Britain. In 2004, he batted .326/.466/.348 for the Brighton Buccaneers. He also became a coach for the British junior team that year. During 2005, he worked for UNLV's baseball team while working on his degree; he did not play that year or 2006 in Britain's top league. In both 2005-2006, he coached for the British junior team. In 2007, he again worked for UNLV and drew a walk in his lone appearance for the London Mets, primarily coaching for them.

Carroll managed the British junior team in 2008 and coached for London. He was 2 for 9 with a walk for London. From 2004-2007 and 2009-2010, he was also Director of Baseball Operations for the UNLV Running' Rebels. He coached for the British junior team in 2010. In 2014, he was a coach for the London Mets again and saw his first playing time in six years, hitting .250/.348/.275 and fielding .810. He coached for Britain in the 2014 European Championship, then managed them in the 2016 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers (finishing second in their pool), 2016 European Championship, and 2019 European Championship. Carroll went on to serve as the General Manager for the British team during the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

Carroll came to the United States as manager of the Salem Red Sox in 2023-2024. He moved up to manager of the Greenville Drive in 2025.
