Leonardo Zileri has played for the Italian national team.
In the 2002 World Junior Championship, Zileri hit .417/.481/.708 with 9 RBI in 7 games; his numbers were comparable to Ian Stewart of the US. Zileri made his Serie A1 debut in 2004, hitting .221/.345/.262 only for Ceci Negri Parma. In 2005, he debuted with the Italian national team when they visited the US. He batted .222/.295/.275 in Serie A1 in 2005. In 2006, he batted .245/.349/.306 with 55 strikeouts in 147 AB.
Zileri blossomed at age 23 in 2007, hitting .329/.393/.434; voting on www.baseball.it named him as one of Serie A1's All-Star outfielders along with Mario Chiarini and Juan Camilo. He was 7th in the league in average and tied five others for second with 3 triples, trailing only Laidel Chapellí.
In the 2007 Baseball World Cup, Zileri was just 1 for 9 while splitting left field duties with Lorenzo Avagnina and Gino Lollio.
